Transplanting to bigger biodegradable pots.
Started transplanting seedlings to bigger biodegradable pots.
And so the yearly Rodent Battle begins!
Every year, at this time, the road and start coming out even more. It’s a constant battle to keep them away from the chickens and the dogs. Rodents carry fleas which can transfer to the chickens into the dogs.
So, the battle begins. This is the time when we start turning over unfrozen soil near and around the chicken coops and anything that they can hide under.
We start having the dogs go out on the hunt during the day and sniff around To drive them out of their holes.
At night, we allow the cats to roam around the property and go on the hunt. Usually the cats don’t leave the barn to keep the rodents out of the barn. Now, for a little while we let them hunt at night to dry the farther away from the property.
I try my best not to use any kind of poison, because it will affect the other animals in the area.
